Large yield of corn this harvest.
This summer’s vegetable harvest was plentiful. Pastor Blay’s wife has also begun teaching traditional Karen weaving to the children at our new Heritage Center. Life has been good at the Bilay House this summer, the only exception being that we lost some fish and ducks in our ponds. We finally figured out that natural poisons develop if there is poor oxygenation and circulation in the water. There were no ill effects on humans luckily and we are working on ways to improve the natural environments in the ponds.
Reported May 13th 2013 Fish and Ducks Lost
We are losing a number of fish and ducks that the children have raised in the ponds we built. We are investigating the cause of the problem and are investigating possible pollutant contamination from factories upstream from the Bilay House. We are planning to report this to the public office to make sure that other people are not being affected downstream from us.
Reported March 26th, 2013 Working Together at the Bilay House
Everyone worked together to lay the new linoleum floor for the Bilay House. This was the first time for us and it turned out beautifully! All of the children pitched in to cultivate the new land we bought. We are looking forward to a good harvest.
