After the Bilay House Heritage Center opening, Homma Kancho traveled to the Thailand-Myanmar border are for research for future AHAN projects.
Japan
Domo Japanese Country Foods Restaurant partners with AHAN and supports many AHAN projects with its ongoing “Dine at Domo and Feed the World” campaign. The foods used in Domo’s traditional Japanese country cooking, especially the seaweeds, mountain vegetables and traditional dried foods are all purchased directly in Japan. Homma Kancho travels to Japan many times a year to purchase foods directly, first hand checking each item for best quality and carrying his selections back to Denver personally.
AHAN Nippon Kan has had a long standing relationship of cultural exchange with East Naruse Village in Akita prefecture. Looking to develop a new project with the village of East Naruse, Homma Kancho traveled to the remote northern village for a planning meeting and to attend a local cooking seminar.
Homma Kancho also traveled to Sakata City in Yamagata Prefecture where he visited a very well known sake brewery. This brewery produces the sake Hatsumago which is served at Domo Restaurant in Denver. The owner Mr. Sato gave Homma Kancho the grand tour which included a tasting of this seasons sake; delicious!

Before returning to the USA, Homma Kancho stopped to visit Dento Iwama Ryu, Shin Shin Aiki Shuren Kai no Hitohira Saito Jukucho and pay his respects to the late Morihiro Saito Shihan with prayers at his home altar.
